110+ Social Bookmarking Sites List for 2026 (Free & Verified)

A verified list of 110+ free social bookmarking sites that still work in 2026, grouped by type, with dofollow status and the dead or spammy ones flagged.

TL;DR

This is a free, verified list of 110+ social bookmarking sites for 2026, grouped by what they do. The honest part the giant "1000+ high DA dofollow" lists skip: almost every link is nofollow, so the value is referral traffic and faster indexing, not link equity. Many sites on those lists are dead or spam, and two everyone still names, Pocket and Folkd, are gone (Folkd is a dating site now).

I have used social bookmarking in real link-building work for years.

It still has a place in 2026. Just a smaller, more honest one than the "1000+ high DA dofollow sites" lists pretend.

Call them bookmarking sites, social media bookmarking sites, or bookmarking submission sites; it is the same idea. Free places where you save and share a link.

Here is the truth up front: almost every social bookmarking link is nofollow now. A huge share of the sites on those giant lists are dead, parked, or pure spam. Two names every list still recommends, Pocket and Folkd, are gone, and Folkd is a dating site now.

So I checked them, one by one. Every site below was opened and verified, then grouped by what it actually does: 110-plus real, working, free platforms, the rare dofollow options flagged, and an honest list of the ones to avoid.

Does social bookmarking still work for SEO in 2026?

Yes, in three narrow ways. None of them is "free dofollow backlinks."

  • Referral traffic. A good submission to an active community like Reddit, or a pin on Pinterest, can bring real readers to your page.
  • Faster indexing. Sharing a new URL on a fast-crawled platform can get it discovered sooner, which is genuinely useful for fresh content.
  • Brand and entity signals. A natural profile has nofollow mentions across many platforms, and that spread of brand citations is exactly what Google and AI answer engines read to understand who you are.

What it does not usually do is pass ranking power through the link. Most links here are nofollow, which Google treats as a hint, so treat any followed link as a bonus, not the goal.

Here is how that works in practice. Say you publish a new comparison post.

You pin it to a Pinterest board, save it to a Mix collection, and share it in a subreddit where it genuinely answers a question.

Within a day, Google has crawled it through those busy platforms, a few readers have clicked through, and your brand has mentions on three more domains.

None of those links passed equity. But the page got indexed faster, earned real visitors, and looks more natural.

That is the honest job social bookmarking does: traffic and indexing, not link equity.

The truth about "1000 social bookmarking sites" lists

Search this topic and you get a numbers race: "1000 social bookmarking sites list", "1800+ sites", "500+ dofollow". Bigger is sold as better.

It is the opposite. A short, verified list beats a 1000-site blast every time.

Most of those lists are copied from each other and never checked. When I actually visited the sites on them, the rot was obvious.

Some are simply dead. Pocket was shut down by Mozilla in July 2025. StumbleUpon closed in 2018. Metacafe, Veoh, Newsvine, and Taringa are all gone, and OnlyBookmarking does not even resolve.

Some have been quietly repurposed. Folkd, on nearly every list, is now a dating site. IndoFeed redirects to a gambling site. Ello, the old designer network, now redirects to a casino. Sending a link into any of them does nothing but embarrass you.

And a large block are Pligg-style spam farms, SkyBacklinks, BookmarkingBase, A2zBookmarks, and the rest, that exist only to hand out "free dofollow backlinks." That is the sort of link pattern Google discounts, and at worst penalises.

Warning

The rule this list follows

Before you submit anywhere, load the site first. If the homepage is a domain-for-sale page, a dating ad, a casino, or a wall of unrelated "submit your link" spam, close the tab. A real platform has real people on it. Everything below passed that test.

Social bookmarking and curation tools

The tools whose whole job is saving and organising links, and the closest thing to "real" social bookmarking that survived. Most are genuinely useful products you would use even without the SEO angle.

The public collections are nofollow, so treat the link as a side effect. Diigo, Raindrop.io, and Pearltrees are the three I would actually install.

Major social networks

The highest-reach places to share a link. The links are nofollow, but this is where the actual people are, so the traffic and brand exposure dwarf any link value.

Reddit and Pinterest alone can out-perform every bookmarking tool combined. Use the niche ones, Plurk, Minds, Nextdoor, only when their community is yours.

Blogging and publishing platforms

Where you publish a whole post and link out, not just drop a link. This is the most valuable category for SEO, because it holds most of the followed links left on this page.

A short, useful post on Blogger, Substack, Ghost, or a Telegraph page gives you a real dofollow link and indexable, branded content at once. Treat these as mini guest posts on platforms you control.

A few, marked below, also give a genuinely followed profile link. That is rare enough in 2026 to be worth building a real profile for.

Video and audio sharing

Upload media, put your link in the description or profile. A single good YouTube video or podcast episode can drive more sustained traffic than a hundred bookmarking submissions.

Most description links are nofollow. But one here, the Internet Archive, still gives a followed link on its item pages, which quietly makes it one of the most valuable entries on the list.

Dofollow social bookmarking sites: the few that are real

Most lists lie about dofollow. Here is the honest short version of which social bookmarking sites actually give a dofollow link in 2026, all verified above.

  • Internet Archive item pages.
  • In-post links on Blogger, Substack, Ghost (own domain), Write.as, and Telegraph.
  • Contributor profiles on Behance, Unsplash, and Pexels.
  • Plurk and Minds posts, historically.
  • WordPress.com and Wix on paid plans.

Everything else on this page is nofollow. That is fine, because the value is traffic, brand signals, and indexing.

If a followed link is what you are after, that short list is where to spend your time. Not on a "500 dofollow sites" spam pack.

The sites to avoid: dead, hijacked, and spam

This is the part the giant lists never update. Every name here still appears on "best social bookmarking sites" roundups, and every one is a waste of time or worse.

I confirmed each.

  • Shut down for good: Pocket (Mozilla, July 2025), StumbleUpon (now Mix), Delicious, Newsvine, Inbound.org, Designer News, Metacafe, Veoh, Tuenti, Renren, Taringa, and Skyrock.
  • Domain hijacked: Folkd is now a dating site, IndoFeed redirects to gambling, and Ello redirects to a casino. All three are still listed as "dofollow bookmarking sites."
  • Dead, parked, or absorbed: Pligg and BacklinksPlanet are for sale, OnlyBookmarking does not resolve, and Mirror.xyz was absorbed into Paragraph.
  • Alive but useless: Digg is now an AI news feed with no user submissions, and Vevo went B2B-only.
  • Spam farms: SkyBacklinks, SocialBookmarkingWorld, BookmarkingBase, A2zBookmarks, EzySpot, Klinkk, Bookmax, Bookmark4You, and VoteURL, Pligg-style sites that exist only to hand out links.

Submitting to any of these builds a link pattern Google ignores at best and penalises at worst. Skip every one.

How to use social bookmarking the right way

Which sites you use matters less than how you show up on them. This is what keeps a submission useful instead of turning it into spam.

  • Be a real participant. On community sites like Reddit and Hacker News, post and comment genuinely before you ever share your own link. Drive-by self-promotion gets removed and remembered.
  • Match the platform to the page. Share a recipe on Pinterest, a SaaS launch on Product Hunt, a dev tutorial on Dev.to, a design on Dribbble. A relevant submission beats a high-DA one every time.
  • Use real titles and descriptions. Write for the human who will click, not for a keyword. Bookmarking spam reads like a robot wrote it.
  • Go slow and steady. A few genuine submissions a week beats fifty in a day. A sudden burst of identical bookmarks across unrelated sites is the footprint filters are built to catch.
  • Do not chase the DA number. A relevant nofollow link on a busy, on-topic platform beats a "high DA" link on a dead directory. Pick by audience, not by a DA score.
  • Never buy packages. Paid "500 bookmarks" services run on the spam farms above. They build a footprint, not authority.

Bookmarking is just one way to build links. Here are my other free lists, all checked the same way:

Want links that actually move rankings?

Social bookmarking is a small supporting tactic. If you need the kind of links that survive core updates, send us the site and the goal. The first reply comes from Sunny, not a sales team.

Final take

Social bookmarking in 2026 earns you traffic and brand mentions. It stopped being a backlink play years ago.

The links are mostly nofollow, the giant lists are full of dead sites, and the spam farms are a liability. But the real platforms still earn their place, and there are more of them than the trimmed "top 10" lists admit.

Pick five or six that match your audience and use them like a human. Chase a followed link only from the short, honest list that actually gives one.

And if bookmarking is holding up your whole strategy, the strategy is what needs attention. It supports a link-building plan; it does not replace one.

Common questions

Does social bookmarking still work for SEO in 2026?

In a narrow way, yes. The links are almost all nofollow, so the real value is referral traffic, faster indexing of new pages, and brand citations, not ranking power. It is a supporting tactic, not a way to build links on its own.

Are social bookmarking links dofollow or nofollow?

Almost all are nofollow now, including Reddit, Pinterest, Medium and Diigo. A genuine few are still dofollow: Internet Archive item pages, and in-post links on Blogger, Substack, Ghost, Write.as and Telegraph. Ignore any "500 dofollow sites" list and verify the link yourself.

What are the highest DA social bookmarking sites?

The highest domain-authority ones are the big platforms: YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, Medium, Quora, Tumblr and Diigo, all DA 85 to 100. High DA does not mean a strong backlink, though, because the links are nofollow. Pick by audience, not by the DA number.

Are there free social bookmarking sites without registration?

Almost every social bookmarking site is free, but the good ones (Reddit, Pinterest, Diigo, Mix) need a quick free signup. "Without registration" sites are nearly all Pligg-style spam farms with no moderation and no value, so skip them and use the real free platforms.

Is there a 1000 social bookmarking sites list?

Not a real one. The "1000+ social bookmarking sites" lists are copied from each other and full of dead, parked and spam sites. A short, verified list like the 110+ here, used on platforms where your audience actually is, beats any 1000-site blast.

Which popular social bookmarking sites have shut down?

Pocket was shut down by Mozilla in July 2025, StumbleUpon closed in 2018 (it became Mix), and Delicious is long gone. Newsvine, Metacafe, Veoh, Renren and Taringa are dead too. Folkd is the strangest case: its domain is now a dating site.
